Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
With feeling defeated, well, here's a *hug*. its hard dealing with chronic illness. But know we're here and cheering you on. Its ok to feel like crap and cry. It would be strange if you didn't.
In 2006 my doctor felt that I had lupus, but my ANA always came back negative, so he figured I was sero-negative. Because there was no objective proof, he wasn't able to treat me. Two years later I ended up with polymyositis. Then at the end of 2010 I had a rash that wouldn't go away and went to a dermatologist. He took a couple skin biopsies, which said I had lupus and overlapping dermatomyositis.. Autoimmune diseases can often be difficult to pinpoint or diagnose, so it can be frustrating trying to figure out what's going on. But don't feel defeated. You can live a good life despite these problems.
Remember, we're here for you. Feel free to vent whenever you need to do so. Best wishes to you.
