Cancer can be very tricky to identify but so far your fine because nothing has been identified. A PET scan will not show when the spot is under 1 centimetre.
So right now there is no worry but all the symptoms from the past are trying to tell you something and eventually it will come to a head.
I know this is slim , the info I gave you but stop and think. Did or does your dad smoke , what's his diet like , is he coughing more than usual , is he losing weight , why did the pneumonia appear. Are you getting my message. Lung cancer does not usually appear until the later stages.
I wish you all the best
My step dad was recently diagnosed with lung cancer at stage 1. The ONLY reason they found the spot on an xray was because I'm sure they thought he had pneumonia. Further scans and biopsy diagnosed the cancer. He was LUCKY to be diagnosed so early.
There are several things the spot could be but I'm no dr. so I don't know what it is, this is a question for your doctor, just keep pressing until you all figure it out. Drs don't always have all the answers straight away. So just keep investigating I'm sure ya'll will get it figured out.
