This community is a place where you can share your long distance challenges and triumphs, vent, give long distance tips and ideas, or just get support from people like you who are going through the same thing. Whether you live a couple hours away or a couple continents away, the specific challenges that face a long distance relationship are unique and difficult.
I've been in a long distance relationship with my girlfriend for 2+ years now. She's in California and I go to university in New York City. Sometimes I also tend to be reserved with my messages, and I'll send the same "yeah" "good" "fine" responses to my girlfriend when she texts me. I knew this was all my fault, sometimes I just don't have energy to elaborate on my day in full detail.... but I knew this was making my girlfriend sad. I knew I wanted to be in a long distance relationship with my girlfriend, so I kept this as a top priority. She was completely honest with me and told me that felt like I needed to talk more in the relationship. I told her that I do love her very much, but sometimes I just don't have enough energy due to my reserved personality. If your boyfriend also keeps your LDR as a top priority I believe he will open up if you honestly ask him to sit down and talk about why he's not opening up as much. Without a physical presence, communication is the only way we can connect with our partners. Let him know that you want this relationship to work and how you guys could work together as a team...also remind him that in an LDR there shouldn't be any "games" where you stop communicating to see if they will get a hint. You have to be very honest with your SO in an LDR.
