Hi all,
I'm going through a divorce and knew my Marriage was bad after returning from a biz trip. I just got back in the same unhappy routine and knew I hadnt been happy for a long time. When you have had sex twice in the last two years and so infrequently before that, what's the point?
During the biz trip over the Memorial Day weekend, I visited my hometown knowing I wanted to see HS classmates. I saw a total of 5 on short notice. One I saw was someone I really wanted to see since she has MS like my brother had and I had been talking to online for a year and a half. So, I saw her for about 7 hours and we just talked the whole time. Something I've never been known to do. We just clicked. I've been talking to her a lot and for h ours every time we talk on the phone. I send her cards, gifts expressing my feelings for her. Ive never been good at doing that but, this time I found someone who has inspired me to do so. I've already told her I love her and she has responded in kind. The more we talk, the m ore we have in common. Sometimes it gets so creepy we prepare the same dinner without knowing what the other did. I even bought her a nice promise ring, with a promise printed in calligraphy on parchment paper, delivered it FedEx and she took pictures. She's going to frame the promise I wrote. Ive never done this sort of thing before, she is just so talented and smart, amazing, beautiful. We both want the same things out of life and we are both romantics. I didn't know I was until she drew it out of me for lack of a better phrase. I'm in Texas, she's in Illinois. I dont want to fly to see her until my divorce is final which is uncontested. We haven't had any physical contact other than the hugs we did when we saw each other, greeting and leaving. I plan on moving closer at the end of the year but it's still a 5 hour drive by car. At least I drive a hybrid that gets great gas mileage. I want to see her on weekends. I have a niece getting married in October about the same time my divorce is final. I asked my new love if she'd like to go to the wedding with me in Virginia. Naturally I'm paying for her flight. She said yes she would love to go and I said she is the greatest!!! So, first real date is a wedding but, I'd like time with her on a date alone before the wedding.
Longwinded here, I know, but what advice do you have for this newb to LDR? Am I too fast already? I don't want to blow this amazing new love I found, we have so much in common, even similar backgrounds. I can honestly see us getting married next year, it's something we both have talked about but we haven't been on a date, yet. I've told her what he perfect day would be and she loves my idea.

I'm also in a LDR. I met my guy on FB and we clicked instantly. He bought me an engagement ring after about a month. At that point we hadn't even met face to face yet.
I don't think that you're moving too fast, as long as both of you are ok with the speed that your relationship is progressing. :0)

Also, I really don't think it's wise to jump into major commitment without facing some type of challenge together and also having an argument with each other. I'm not saying you should start a fight. But you don't really know somebody's character until you've disagreed on something. What if she shuts down? Screams at you or throws things? Gives the silent treatment all day? I know, I know . . . you're saying she's wonderful and she would never do that. Believe me, it's possible. I thought my ex was sweet as pie until he got mad and a whole bunch of ugly came out. This is just food for thought based on things I've learned. Good luck to you!
