Hi I'm new to this forum. I think it is great that my girlfriend found this because talking to people going through the same situation we are in is what we need because nobody really understands feelings of a long distance relationship unless you are in one or have been in one.

My girlfriend and I have been talking for a little over a year and she lives in Michigan and I live in Louisiana. We just spent our first weekend together and it went perfect. But when the day came for her to leave I could feel my heart breaking because she was leaving that night. Well the days after have been miserable my hearts broken, I feel empty and lost, and sick. I'm looking for advice or just someone to chat with somebody and see if it gets better or worse. I plan on moving up there in the near future but can really use kind words or advice from somebody that knows what we are feeling. We still talk text send pics all day everything. But it's still sad and heartbreaking. So feel free to send a message or comment or however this works. Can't wait to hear from anybody. Thank you

I know what you mean. I live in Arizona and my husband lives in New York where he is attending school. Although its not the same as them being there in person we face time several times during the average day. At least I get to see his smile and hear his voice and look into his face as he is talking. One of us visits the other during school breaks and holidays. We still have until May 2018 before he is done with school, although he has much of the summer off. But yes, being apart sucks.

Yes we FaceTime a lot and text constantly during the day and talk on the phone every chance we get. But after our first visit our feelings got stronger and the pain got harder to feel once we were distant again. But we are planning more trips to see each other and finding this forum is amazing because it's hard to find people that actually support a long distant relationship instead they just trash talk it and say they never work

My girlfriend and I text each other everyday and we talk on the phone everyday. We visit each other as much as possible. So it sounds like your doing everything you can until you finally move with her. Leaving her after a visit is very hard I just keep taking it day by day and know one day we will be together.

I understand that feeling I'm on a LDR too for 2 yrs. now my bf is in bahrain while I'm in hongkong he visit me every 2 months. it's true that its hard everytime he is leaving again. but we make it sure we have communication everyday through skype. during our days off from work we spend the whole day on skype. LDR works for us so far its build with trust and respect for each other

I completely understand, ive been in a serious ldr for the past 10 months....im also in Michigan and he lives in Iowa. After our first meeting last November i laid in my dark bedroom for a day and cried because I missed him so desperately. I will tell you that it does get easier. We also talk, text and video chat everyday, all the time so it sounds like you're on the right path. I wish you the best!

True no one understands long-distance unless it's happening to them, and they say it will be fine/easy, but they have no idea what they are talking about, I get what you mean.
