Is this jealousy or idk what
I have been in a relationship with a great guy for over a year and a half. We spent a year of our relationship together in college and the other half we have been in a LDR. For a while I have been getting a vive that one of his friends is a bit possessive. He has mentioned before that he only wants to hang out alone with him and specifically mentions he doesn’t want me there. When that happens I give them their time and space but recently I can’t help but feel what I can only describe as jealousy.
I mostly began to feel like this aweek or two before he left to go work in another state. We would constantly make plans on things to do before he left. On some of our planened dates he would text me to cancel and tell me he had decided to have a guys day with his possessive friend and another friend. I understood but I couldn’t help but feel hurt that after planning this he would cancelled. Other occasions something similar would happen but instead he would just leave me hanging because he had lost track of time with his friend.
When I expressed how upset I was because of this,he would feel bad and apologize to the point of making me feel bad with myself for feeling these feelings and making him feel bad.
As months went by and we entered our LDR phase. On one occasion when he came to visit me on what was a special occasion and were supposed to watch a movie that I had been waiting months for. He informed me that before meeting with me he would go spend time with his friends. I was completely fine with this till he I formed me his possessive friend wanted to go somewhere and they had decided to go do that instead. That day he blew off the movie date we had been planning for at least 6 months and instead went with his friends. I couldn’t help but feel upset like I wasn’t one of his priorities. Later that night I let him know how Upset that had made me and how I had been feeling. He felt bad and apologize but he also ended up making me feel upset and disappointed at myself.
Now recently his friend went down to go visit him for a boys weekend they had been planning. My boyfriend even called in at work to hang out with him, even when he had previously stressed multiple times how that’s one thing he would never do for me or one of his friends. They had their fun but throughout their weekend not once did he called me. We have a been really good at talking every night for at least 10 minutes and talk about or day and wish each other good night. It might seem like I might be reading too deep into it but considering that for every night for 6 months straight we had been doing this, I felt it hard. Throughout the day he wouldn’t reply to text messages or anything we barely sent like 4 messages. When he’s Friend left, he began to text me and call me but before then I did not get a single call from him for 3 days. I couldn’t help and feel disappointed and again like I wasn’t a priority to him through that weekend. As I kept thinking about it, it stung more because whenever I hang out with my friends I still take 10 minutes to answer when he calls, I still take time to wish him goodnight and keep up with his day but I do not get that reciprocated.
At this point I know he loves me and I love him but I don’t know how to bring it up without feeling like I am being selfish with him. I want to not feel this upset and feel like I am not a priority. I have been trying to put a name on how I feel and the only word that I think might fit is jealousy but I don’t think it’s accurately describes it.if I could get any opinions or thoughts on the matter I would appreciate it.
