This community is a place where you can share your long distance challenges and triumphs, vent, give long distance tips and ideas, or just get support from people like you who are going through the same thing. Whether you live a couple hours away or a couple continents away, the specific challenges that face a long distance relationship are unique and difficult.
My girlfriend was unable to visit this past weekend (she flies standby and the flights were full) and I feel horrible right now. I was so happy a week ago because I knew I'd be able to see her in just a short time. I've been counting down the days until this moment, but now I'm going to have to continue to wait... this is so exhausting.
I hate hearing about how everyone else in normal relationships are excited to see their S.O. because they don't have to deal with the distance. I'm sick of always waiting for another visit and I can't believe that the next date until I see her again will probably be Thanksgiving. That's almost 90 days of not seeing each other in person since the last visit.
We've been together for about 4 years now and this has been the common waiting period between each visit. In the past she's been able to fly on standby (very lucky) but this is the first time where the standby didn't work...I don't know how to cope with a failed visit. It's so exhausting that I'm not even sure if I'll be excited for the next possible time she'll visit because I know I have to wait another entire month. That's so much time and different events and projects going on...it feels like by the time she's finally able to visit it'll be like it's too late. I don't feel good.
The reason I say that is because sometimes I feel like I am the one making sure my boyfriend and I visit each other. I get mad when he says he's "too busy" at work to look at tickets. I know we all get busy and I might be overreacting but I just feel like there shouldn't be excuses to book a trip to go see your girlfriend.
But then I read messages like this one, and read that you have had to wait 90 DAYS to see your S.O. I feel kind of bad because maybe I don't even have it this bad and need to appreciate what I have so far. The longest my man and I have waited to see each other is 3 weeks, and when I found that out I cried myself to sleep. I can't even imagine 90 days going by pass me and not be able to spend time with my man.
I hope things are slowly getting better. I know it's been a while since you posted this on here.
