My boyfriend has been looking to move to a different state for the past few months, since the beginning of December. Im not going with him and he finally told me today that he will be leaving within the same week as our two year anniversary. He will be here for the anniversary but Im so incredibly depressed I dont know how to handle it. I thought I would start to feel better but honestly it's getting worse. I still dont want him to leave even though I know it's already said and done and he's leaving. I honestly dont understand why I'm not feeling any better. I feel like I should have gotten used to this idea by now but every time i think about it it seems worse and I get even more sad than I was before...I dont know what to do...please does any one have any advice? I just want to be able to make this work with him long distance wise and still be happy. I just dont know how to control my emotions and keep my self positive about this when all I can think about is how everything is against us right now.

I've been in therapy for about a month for severe depression among others. However, therapists tell me to somehow turn a negative into a positive, and count your blessings for your time together. If you two are very close, be open and honest about your feelings with him. I don't know if you have faith in God or not. It's usually not something I bring up. But while in therapy today a friend in my group shared 1st Corinthians which talks about what love is. I know it's hard. I've been talking with a friend of mind who was in my HS class but, I never had her in any classes I was in. I talked on line for hours with her and did the same when I saw her in person 4 times in the last 3 years. She knows how I feel and I make the effort to at least send a text a day. Lately I haven't had much of a response from her, but I do know that she is in the process of staging her house for sale. It doesn't help when her two sons don't help at all. I try some form of communication every day, and sometimes I need to back off a little. That's just due to a little insecurity on my part. Be open, be honest with him. I wasn't with my current wife and paid a high price for it. Let's just say we both developed bad patterns. Communication is so key in a relationship. Don't be afraid to tell him what you're feeling and why. When you discuss it with him, make it an I feel this way statement and here's why. If you aren't open and honest with him about how you feel and why, in the end, you'll regret it. Regrets are difficult to deal with if you dwell on the past, like I have the tendency to do. I'm working on that. Make the most of the moments, live in the moments, cherish the moments. No regrets. Two years in a relationship is short, but when you are with the one who makes your heart skip a beat, and you feel he is the one, you must communicate. If you don't you'll later be asking yourself, why didn't I tell him? As the Nike slogan goes, just do it. Guys appreciate when a woman really opens up to them. At least for me, it's that way. When you do that, it will strengthen your relationship. You might feel you are not strong enough to deal with it. Tell him that you thought you were. There's a difference between what you feel, and expressing what you feel. I know it's hard. Depression sucks and only gets worse if you isolate yourself. I know because that is exactly what I did. The last 3 years for me, worse depression I have ever been through. If you have benefits and you can see a therapist, whether it's couples or individual therapy. I highly recommend it. It doesn't mean you're weak. You're trying to get through a big change, which in itself can cause a bout of depression. Reach out to a supportive friend who really cares about you. That helps, too. Best wishes for you through your change and best of luck. Sometimes you just know there's that certain someone who makes us just feel good being next to them. It was that way for me this time.
