Men and women cope very differently with things. I hate to generalize, but I find it to be true. Women take comfort in seeking others out in similar situations and sharing while men tend to keep things to themselves and deal that way.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know for a fact my boyfriend would never join a support group of any kind. It's just not in his nature and he wouldn't see a need for it. He either keeps things inside or has enough support in his own day to day life to get by that way. He doesn't really like to get in touch with his "feelings" as much as I do and would see it as a weakness of some sort. I don't have much support on my end by contrast and value the connection this forum provides to others in similar situations as myself.

With that being said, the lack of male posters here by no means equates to them not valuing their LDR as much as their partners. It's nothing more than how people deal with things. I'm sure there's plenty of women in LDRs as well that don't reach out for support either -- it really all depends on the individual too.

Pretty much everything dreams said. My boyfriend would never join a support group for our LDR, he keeps almost all of his feelings inside and just does his best to push through being lonely or sad. Whether or not I think this group could do him some good is a different story ;)

I don't think it's that men don't value their relationships... I can only speak for my boyfriend and I think he's very concerned and involved with our relationship. He is constantly talking about us with other people, bragging about our relationship and looking up ways online to get through our long distance time. We met on here... but he deleted his account shortly after we got together because he thought he didn't need it anymore... he was on here due to a bout of depression and has since really come out of his shell and is doing great. I don't think he'd go to a support group for relationship stuff... he thinks that any problem we have can be figured out between us but at the same time he likes hearing about the posts and things that I read to him.

I agree with all of you lol. I've noticed that it's mostly women on here too, but we also do cope with things differently and like to talk to other people and such when we're feeling upset. Guys (excuse the blanketing here lol) tend to internalize their emotions more and (from what I've noticed from my relationship) are able to focus more on other things to take their minds off of it. My boyfriend is very involved in our relationship also, and he tells me all the time how important it is to him (and how important I am) to him. So, I don't think they don't care..I just think they have different ways of coping, and don't always necessarily feel like they need to do it in the same way as we do.

My partner values our relationship as much as I do, he just doesn't post on these boards. I think you'll find the majority of posters on relationship type boards are women but that doesn't mean men don't feel the same way about their relationship as their partner does. I know he talks to his guy friends about us, our relationship, how difficult it is not being with each other all the time, how he can't wait until he sees me again and looking forward to the day we're living together.
