I'm getting excited and nervous all the time. I'm going to see my boyfriend on Thursday; for his birthday on Friday. I'm SUPER excited. I live with my mom and she is... not so excited. She is saying I'm making a bad choice. I just need to go. I'll never know until I try for me. I'm a bit nervous about the drive. It's six hours but I need to do it for me; no one else. I really just need to go for him and I. We need it. I need it. I'm scared he won't really like me or something weird. We have talked for 5 months before we decided to become official. What if I'm a dork and he is like "Omg, you're weird. Go away. Grrr." LOL idk. Who knows? Only the man upstairs... wish me luck ....... :)

Good luck! If you've "clicked" well already, you probably will in person, too. Just don't force physical stuff you're not ready for - that part might take a little while to warm up to, but that's okay.

I know how u feel. Me and my ldr have been together about 8 months and we met for the first time a couple weeks ago. I was surprised at how normal it was I expected some awkwardness but it wasnt at all.

It sucks to go back to the distance though, now i just miss him so badly.

He's probably worried about the same things you are but as the others said, you'll only know by doing it. We all had that twinge of worry when we're meeting an on-line partner in person for the first time but it's worth it to find out.

As far as your mom thinking you're making a bad choice, that's a pretty normal reaction for a mom. Make sure you check in with her on your traveling to put her mind at ease that you're ok. I have to check in with my adult sons when I'm traveling to see my partner or they'd have the national guard out looking for me. lol My mom is always a nervous wreck when I hit the road so I make sure I check in with her on my pee stops and when I get there.

I drive 10 hours by myself to see my partner every few months. My checklist is to make sure my cell phone is charged, I have my phone charger with you (in house charger and in car charger), if you don't have a GPS I strongly suggest getting one but also have directions printed out, have a spare tire in case of a flat (not just the little donut tire), something to snack on and to drink. I also have my mechanic go over my car good before I hit the road just to make sure the fluids are good, belts are good, breaks, tires, etc. so there's less chance of something going wrong while I'm on the road.

I know this is a little late, but for anyone else in this situation--remember the breath freshener!!! Things can get a little stale and icky after a long drive!!!

@ Faykay: I agree, I feel scummy after driving for 10 hours. I always stop at our favorite pizza place when I get into town to pick up a pizza for our dinner. While I'm waiting for the pizza, I go in the ladies room, brush my teeth, wash/freshen up and comb my hair. Once I'm at the house, it's kisses and hugs and then I jump in the shower before any of the real fun stuff begins.
