Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

My food stamps expired and my car broke down in the library
parking lot. I was sure it was going to get towed away with all
my clothes in it. So that meant I would have no food, no clothing
and no place to sleep. Seemed suicide was the only option.
The suicide hotline told me to call 911 or go to an emergency
room, so I walked all the way to the hospital. They kept me for
3 days and then transferred me to the state mental hospital.
I was there for 6 weeks while they figured out what to do with me.
My social worker there kept telling me over and over that there
is no place for a disabled person with no income to live. That
the only option for me was a temporary shelter. It took them six
weeks to find a shelter that had a bed available. It is very difficult
to get into shelters. I got transferred there day before yesterday.
Then I walked down to the library and guess what? My car was
still sitting in the parking lot! So I was able to get my laptop and
some of my clothes back. I am here again today and will take
more of my clothes back with me to the shelter which is a mile
and a half from here. I feel very lucky. I am going to have to call
a scrapper to come tow my car away, I will get a few bucks out
of it, but that's all. I have to go down to the social services office
tomorrow to get a rent voucher to give to the shelter so I can stay
the 30 days I am allowed. Yes, shelters charge rent. They are
not free. I asked the manager of the shelter if I could used the
shelter address to get my food stamps back and she said no.
Social services will not accept a shelter address for food stamps.
and you can't get food stamps if you live in a car or on the street.
Only if you have your OWN place to live are you allowed to have
food stamps. So the people who REALLY need it can't get it.
The law is insane. When my 30 days are up I will have nowhere
to go and no food. I won't even be able to carry all my clothing
with me, and I don't have that many clothes to begin with. I will
be sleeping on the sidewalk like so many other people in this
city and it is 28 degrees out at night now. I know I won't survive.
The state mental hospital was insane. I was locked in with
people who were yelling and screaming all day and night.
People who were threatening to kill everyone, and breaking
windows and furniture, tearing the drinking fountains off the wall
and taking all their clothes off in the day room, walking around
naked.... it was a terrifying experience. When I am sleeping on
the sidewalk with no food, and suicide is all that is left for me to
do, I will NOT go to the hospital. I know better now. The hospital
can't do a thing for me. When I was there I was begging for
counseling to try to deal with the hell of being locked up in there,
but my requests were ignored. Of all the people I met in there
not a one of them got counseling. I have 27 days left to stay at
the shelter, then I am at the end. So this is where I have been
and what I have been doing. I hope you all are luckier than I am.
Take care.

A day-center exists in my own town..for the homeless, which provides a variety of services. And one service is accepting mail for ppl. They give ya a number and so forth. I wonder if a place where you are provides that.
good luck
! ! ! !
I am so sorry for you hospital experience. You are right, hospitals do not help you at all.
I dont feel you are in a city which is friendly to homeless people, and there could be better places. I dont know if it is feasible for you to move.
I was shocked to hear of you experinces in the mental hospital. That seems to be an absolutely wrog thing to do to you!
What is really needed is for God to look up and work out your path.
I pray He does that for you soon.
Always praying for your life to turn better, because I cant do much else.
I am new to this, and not ready to throw in my two cents as far as advice goes, but I give you a lot of credit for getting up in the morning. I thought I had problems but I suppose I ought to just be grateful for the stability in my life even though my relationships suck. I wish there was some way I could help you.
there has to be some organization to help, like the salvation army did help me when I needed it, years ago. were you able to work? how did you get into that situation? there has to be a church or somewhere to give you shelter. that experience must have been horrid
As so many have said, there are better places to be homeless - at least not suffer through 110+ day after day all summer, then below 30 at night.
Sending good thoughts. It's great to see you here:)
Personally, I would asked for another social worker. Doesn't sound like the one you have is much help. Have you tried Volunteers of America? Or other non profit corporations in your area? If you don't know where they are, maybe volunteers of America can help you get a list. You need to investigate all of your options and start now, don't wait until the last minute. I sure you will not.
Have you tried the local churches for help? Some of them will help you or at least try to find you a place to stay. Ok, I looked up Volunteer's of America. I have to know you city and state to find out help in your area. But, you can look them up on the computer and research the information. The help with housing for homeless, homeless with mental problems and homeless with disabilities. I have heard they are a great organization.
The Salvation Army may help but they are short term.
Sunshine Center, you go to their website and leave your information and they will email you back. If they can't help you maybe they can help you move to another city or their city for help. I know the main office is located in my hometown.
There is also the American Hope Resources, you can find it on the internet under that name.
There is also a place call Rescue Missions. You can look them up, then look on a map for the closet one possible to you. They help the homeless.
There are many places on line that help the homeless in emergency situations. These are a few I found. I need to know where you are at to help you further. Please let me know. I have missed you and have been very worried about you. There have been many a prayer sent up concerning you. Please help me help you if I can. Contact me and let me know where you are so we can begin there. Ok?
The Salvation Army
Volunteers of America
American Hope Resources
Rescue Missions
You can find them all online under their names.
Like I said, I need to know you location to help further. Love you.
There was another post I saw, free motel vouchers for the homeless. I couldn't find it though. This link lead to that link. Maybe someone else would have better luck.
