Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. HI Everyone,
I envy people who have life-long friendships. I had friends in school and I thought they would be in my life a lot longer than they were.
I have had people who have come in and out of my life. Some people came in for a short time and others have been around longer.
I moved to VA about 10 years ago. I got out of a bad family situation in NY, some friends here in VA invited me to move in with them. I lived with them until May of last year when they decided to move to Oregon. Her husband retired early from his job and as part of his retirement his job would move him and his family anywhere they wanted in the US if they wanted to move out of VA. I decided not to move with them.
We had neighbors that I became friends with. When my friends left I moved into another neighbor, I used to watch her cats. Things did not go well and after a few months I moved out. I am not living in the same townhouse community just with another neighbor I've known for a long time. We are getting along very well.
My relationship with the neighbors who became friends changed after I moved. I didn't hear anything anymore. The only time I talked to them was if I made the first move and walked by their home. Otherwise I hear nothing. I recently spoke to them. Her husband lost his job a few months ago. He worked as a govt contractor. She started to declutter her house, getting rid of some stuff she didn't need. I wondered if this was a prelude to them moving out. She said her husband was contacted by some head hunters in NC and that since the cost of living is less down there that they might move.
I'm not sure if they are going or not for sure. But I won't be surprised. I just wonder why I kept a relationship going with her when it really wasn't such a great friendship to begin with.
How does one let go of a relationship that isn't working? I find it so hard to let go.

If you only know one thing about me, it should be _____________________.

It's hard when we do not have supportive close family relationships. And often due to harmful upbringings in some families it is hard to move on and establish a family of our own. So it seems we look to friends, but real friends are hard to come by.
is important.
To lose someone like that should go with
finding one (at least) other. . . . . . . . sorry for my English,
I hope Lily you get the idea.

I'm still lonely for friends, but I am making a few friends here. I don't feel totally at a loss of friends, even if virtual. IDK, but the way the world seems sometimes....
HUGS! We're here for you.
