being a virgin doesn't make you less of a person - having lots and lots of sex with people you don't know makes you less of a person...

i agree. I think it's because of the messed up culture. People think it's OK and cool to have as much sex as possible. It's almost like a competition. It's disgusting.

i really don't understand the stigma about being a virgin. its each persons personal decision, whether or not to have sex and when. besides, from what i've seen, those people who become sexual active because of peer pressure tend to not enjoy sex as much. I waited until i was 17, which was highly unusual within my social circles at the time, but when i do talk about the few partners i've had and my experiences with them people are always staring at me like "really? its that great?". they can't believe that i've found so much pleasure with such few partners. I tell them its because i waited until i was ready and that i choose my partners carefully. i care about them, not the social status i'd get for sleeping around.

I don't think it matters, but it also means I am still alone and found no love yet.

I'll be 20 in three weeks and I'm still a virgin too. I wish I was close enough with someone to be intimate with, but at the very least I know that my abstinence is keeping me safe from STD's. I agree with you about people treating sex as a competition, I think it's terrible how promiscuous our culture is.

I do feel like the odd one out because I am still a virgin and mostly everyone I know is not. We are so few and far between. I'm glad that I'm not alone though.

Sometimes it's really hard for me to not be embarrassed about being a virgin. I am 26 and haven't had a boyfriend before. I'm waiting for a good guy, but I haven't met anyone.Sometimes I just want to get it over with so I don't have to worry about what guys will think of me.
It's just tough...sometimes I feel okay about it and I try to remain positive, but it has been so hard lately for me to wait for a good guy.

I've had many "intimate" relationships before and after loosing my virginity at almost 19. It was a choice of mine and while the girl I ended up being with didn't work out, I never regretted it for a moment.

Granted, now that I look back at her herself I can think of more than a few unpleasant things to say about her, but whenever I think back to my first time, it was well worth it and nothing she could've done after that can really take away from that experience with her. It was probably one of the best times (out of many) that we shared in our relationship.

In short, it's nothing to worry about as ya stated and that's great in itself. Just make sure who yer with and when it happens is the way that you and her both want. Be safe and while ya don't have to make sure it's the "prefect" setting, it should be something with someone you care about as well as any important feelings or ideals ya'd like to have in the situation.

As long as it's something that you can look back at that moment with a smile then whatever happens before or after shouldn't matter. While I might not remember every first time I was with a new girl, I will always remember the first and always with a smile.

Only other thing I can add is to remember it's not something just for you as well as it's not something yer giving just for her. She should know that it's something you want to share with her and it being something special for both of you. Even if it's not her first time herself and whatever her feelings maybe, at the least she should know what it means to you and she should be going in with a smile on her face as well.

kudos for being smart enough to wait. in this culture of pple with no morals, where women dress like street walkers and men try to copy like whatever goof ball look they see on the tv, its nice that some younger pple still have morals and brains. its not something that would come up in normal conversation. but who cares, you havent found the right person for you yet, you have plenty of time.

look at pple in their early 20s and already divorced, take a lesson from that in regards to taking your time, when you do find someone. may you find the right one for you in life. ive given up that quest, the odds are about like winning the lotto for me.

I think it's something to be proud of. It means you won't just settle for anyone and I think the person who takes your virginity should feel honored.

I'm 20 too, I can't believe how many of us there are. Waiting for the right person is crucial, but sometimes I feel like I'm living in a fantasy and there will never be the right person. And, I am just really self-conscious. But, I refuse to settle either way.

Everyone who makes fun of virgins are secretly jealous of you because they probably have had plenty of empty sex with people they have luke warm feelings for. You are smart to stay where you are and wait. Not only that, a lot of people have STD's so be picky and wait for a special person who will always be honest and you know for sure they are clean.
