Hey,
I am feeling lonily for a while now. I have a few friends but have not been in contact lately because of busy schedules.
I want to find more friends but not sure where/how to go about doing it. Aside from that the other main obsticle is I am very shy, it takes a lot to get me to open up and I am bad at small talk/getting to know you situations so that makes things even harder.
If I am in a group situation doing something it makes things easier but again not sure what/where to look.
The other thing is with my depression I dont have (or cant find) a passion for anything for places to start looking for friends.
The only adult I talk to aside from a couple people at work is my wife and that is just not enough and if I had more friends I would have more to talk to with my wife as well.
Anyone in the same situation and find a way to work things out and make new friends?

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

Good luck!
When our kids were little, and we enrolled them in activities, school, sports, we got to know their little friends parents, and it seemed easier to meet people.
Now a days, it seems like the few friends I have are more and more physically and emotionally distant, moving forward in their own lives.
There are very few meet up groups in my area, and so I started swimming at an aquatic group 3 times a week. I haven't found any close friends, but it is at least nice to get out socially and get exercise that I like.
I feel like I have basically been on the begging end of reaching out, calling people, extending invitation to get together, and not getting enthusiastic replies. Even from people who used to be enthusiastic about doing things together. I am trying not to take it personally.
So, I am going to a 12 step support group weekly and a meditation group, to help me learn to enjoy being with myself more when I am alone, and focus my thoughts more positively.
I am planning to volunteer at a food pantry this month, too hoping to meet new people.
Being active in DS the past two months has been really helpful to me, in feeling connected and belonging in a global online group, it doesn't make up for "real life" friends to do things with, but it is helping me to see how many other people have similar difficult experiences like me and that I am not alone, and that we can support each other through this by writing to share in our posts and journals, and that long distance online support is better than not having any support at all. It really helps while we patiently wait and make changes that bring shifts in our experiences.
