If you must, perhaps why not use creativity to find the "surrogate" maid of honor and/or whatever figures you wish be part of your wedding. Maybe while thinking about all those things can lead to a entirely new solution to your planning. Good luck to both of you and congratulations!
Don't have a maid of honour or a best man. That way you both just stand together.
I do know of a very successful wedding where the maid of honour was the brides mum. Maybe this could be a possibility for you or maybe one of your partners family you are close too.
Think outside the square. Your witnesses don't have to be friends they can be family. All that matters on the day is that you marry the man you love.
Forget the hype we see on tv and in magazines. Weddings isn't about all the hype and how many bridesmaids you have. Weddings are about love, commitment and wanting to share that with those in our lives that matter.
I see your guest list as perfect. The people who truly matter will be there.
Perhaps your partner could scale his list to only immediate family. That way both lists are small and that way you won't feel so overwhelmed by him having more guests than you.
Communication is key so best you tell your partner how you are feeling now before the wedding planning gets into full swing.
And lastly, big congratulations to you both.
But I also like the idea of your mom being the maid of honor. Today anything goes. Small and intimate is nice too.
