Someone I know made a good friend on a maths class.
They were both struggling a bit with maths, and happened to get to know eachother whilst doing the course.
I assume they were helping eachother out as and when they got stuck and so on.
Maybe you can think of something you're not too good at (and would like to get better at) then join some evening classes.
Don't do it to make friends. Do it because you want to get better at whatever it is. If you make a friend, look at it as a bonus.
I imagine ppl that work behind the bar are pretty good at making friends. It's all about being confident in making conversation and positive body language.

To make matters worse...my husband, the only person I know here stays up all night and sleeps all day, We accomplish what we have to do, but we never laugh together and have nothing in common.
