Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. Hey guys, my name is Joanna and I'm 20. I'm new here, so I'll try to keep the story as short as possible.
So, I'm the only child. My mother never got married and she really wanted a child. I was born when she was 41, let's say that it was her deadline. Nevermind, I grew up with my mom and granny and my childhood was pretty carefree. My family was really supportive and we've always been close.
Last year I applied to a university and got in. Now I'm studying languages and I'm really happy because of that. I'm far from home and far from my friends. Yeah, okay, I made some new friends here, but that's not it, we aren't close. Nevertheless, I live alone in a huge apartment and it's been a year and a half since I had a relationship. It is really hard, you know, keeping my mom and the whole family happy with my grades, struggling to achieve them and all that stress... If I only had someone to share everything with... I'm trying to fight loneliness, but I'm just sinking more and more. In a year and a half, I've been rejected four times and this last one really got me down. I feel that there is no use in combating it, just devours you more. I don't know what to do, I can't even study, can't sleep well. Just spending numberless hours fantasizing, creating parallel worlds and impossible scenarios. Actually that helps me a bit, but I know I'm falling into the abyss.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that at the age of 17 I tried to commit suicide, swallowed a cocktail of pills. Only my mom and aunt know about that and now that everything seems overwhelming again I'm trying really hard not to think about it again, but it keeps popping in my head.
Thanks everyone for reading this. Helps me a lot to get it off my chest. :)

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

your not hard on the eyes so that cannot seem to be the problem....I dunno what to tell you other than to be outgoing with things like meetup.com....there are all kinds of groups to have fun in and single ladies are abundant so you might make some same sex friends rather than just seeking a man to be with while in these groups....University is hard I hear you on that...I stayed in my home town for my BA and years later stayed in my town for my MA too....so I can only imagine being out of your area at university.....I drank alot when I was going to school for BA but had quit drinking before MA....consider not drinking as it is an addiction for some of us.....hugs
Let's say that you're the first person I talked to in a week, I'm both physically and mentally isolated, and I'm thinking that a roomate won't change a thing.
Afterall, I'm just looking for a intimate friendship, which I've never had. And I keep thinking how it is to be near a person who cares about you, I forgot how does it feel like...
I also relate to feeling that people are fake, I find that a lot. Where are all the genuine people?! Oh, I know, we're all lonely and hiding out from the phonies.
I really don't have any advice, but I hope I've helped a little. And please, leave the pills in the medicine cabinet.
Taking walks or runs, even 5 minutes, can clear your mind. Focus on what you do have: people who love you and care about you, an opportunity for a good education and a lifetime ahead of you.
Loneliness is something you can overcome. Anxious energy to find someone as soon as possible may attract the wrong people. It definitely scares away some of the right ones - they sense neediness.
Most people have been friend-needy at some point in life. Any positive way you find to not dwell on it will make life easier.
Sending good thoughts.
