Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. He has his problems, I have mine, and we meet in the middle to share, live, laugh, love, and drink on occasion. You can't look for a best friend, you just know when it happens. It's kind of like when people say stop looking for love and it will fall in your lap. There is a certain truth to that.
Just be yourself no matter what. A best friend will love you for your faults, not despite them.
I'm tired of feeling so alone all the time too. There are days when I wonder what's the point of getting out of bed.
When I was younger I was beyond shy. I was almost afraid of my own shadow but I don't know what's happened to me over the years, but I've completely shed my shyness. Now I talk to everyone whom I come in contact with.
At my job I talk to a lot of folks because I work in retail. I even talk to small children and babies. I love people now.
So what I'm trying to say is maybe you can start to say hello to safe total strangers. I think it can make you feel less lonely and who knows how your personality will develop if you start noticing others around you.
Just my two cents.
I read your note then the notes of others and there are a lot of us who are in need of a best friend, and a relational friend at that would be nice. I was told the other day that exercise does a world of good without medicines so I am trying to find an exercise buddy as I have a hard time getting motivated.
We are in trying times Amber, there has been a shift in the world and many people seem to be unable to focus on others because everyone is too much in need. I will pray for a respectful and genuinely honest person to come into your life. Know that you are here for a reason and though it may not seem like your life has meaning, it does. Be open to the good that will be coming your way but know the sun comes out after the rain. It is in the suffering times that we are then graced with beautiful gifts of character. If you believe in God, share your loneliness with Him and ask Him to pamper you so that you can see He is really there and has not forgotten you. Have a blessed week Amber!
