Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I too am thinking of reducing my time on here.
can you hear the crickets chirpping in the bg on this thread?;)
sunday mornings are nice for me, cause i can bike 2 miles to walmart without any traffic killing me, but then rest of day is dead.
the internet, seemingly, is a dead end, eventually, unless you have lots of money...but if you have lots of money, you dont need the internet for companionship.;)
take care.
thanks for your reply.
But maybe some people post less on the weekends because that's when people actually have time to give them a bit of company. Like if you're a lonely spouse and/or parent, your family have more time to be together on the weekends.
i can only wonder how many who complain of terrible loneliness are really just co-dependant types, who need lots of attention.
when i was in an "avoidant personality" (there really is such a mental illness) group at yahoo, there were people who wrote how they almost never left their apt, and had zero, zero, people in their life----that is really loneliness, and I dont even want to admit how close i am to that.
I hope you get some enjoyment form your Sunday. Enjoy your bike ride. I understand x
"the lonely crowd", the title of a book, maybe from the 1960s.
when i sometimes take a bus to walmart, 2 miles outside of my hometown, in late morning, i can be out there for a couple hours without seeing anybody from my past.
I'll check out the book, thanks.
I've definately reached the point of being tired of reading books and listening to music....especially since even most college grads in my area seem to have never heard of the classic literature i've read, and jazz/opera I listen to....just makes me more cut off from a lot of society.
I've run out of ways to escape, long ago, but I'm the cliche of being crazy means doing the same stuff over while expecting different results.
So what do you normally do to keep yourself occupied? Books are a relatively new hobby for me, since I am an uneducated young man. I am not sure whether or not I should share that, since a lot of people seem to be using that against me lately. You've read Shakespeare? I always wanted to read Shakespeare. It's a matter of time. I love music. I listen to it all day, and night. If I am sad, I listen to old sad music in foreign languages(even some of which I am unfamiliar with), if I am hap...er, if I am angry, I listen to something like Slayer. Other times like last night I'll just put on "Moonlight Sonata" and hit the repeat button, and listen to it over and over. I have an opera in German, but I have no idea what they're singing about...rote rosen(red rose). It sounds lovely, and old. I have another opera in Italian called "O suave faciulla(Lovely girl)" , and an old Russian one from ww2. It's too bad you don't live in NY anymore, otherwise we'd be closer by. I would have invited you to Manhattan, and we could have shared a meal at starbucks, and you could have told me all about those pesky liberals ;)
Well, if it's any consolation, I am pretty cut off from most of society too, and I rarely have anything in common with anyone(especially people my age), so there's little to talk about. I hope you have a nice weekend. I have a cat also. I've got her on a diet. She's gotten quite fat and I don't want her to get diabetes.
I looked around and came up w a short novel about a kid in reform school, 'The Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner.' (Have heard bits about it thru the years, however I haven't read it myself yet.) //Caleb
For me loneliness is an every day thing. I have to work which really
sucks. but when I get off work I come straight home and hide from the
world. DS is my only outlet. weekends are no different from weekdays
for me. I don't know why it gets slower on weekends. Maybe it's true
that people can get together more on weekends and so aren't as
lonely. That isn't the case for me. Every day is the same here.
Have come to think I have a bit of that. In Elaine Aron's 'The Highly Sensitive Personality' it is said HSP and evasiveness tend to go together. She thinks those traits go together more than you'd think.
This book has changed my life; I recommend it. Here's an example from it: in Elain's findings, not always does introversion go with this fragile 'oversensitivity.'
cheers, Caleb
