Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. I've experienced depression for years. I know a lot of it came from my childhood situation. It also developed a strong sensitivity in me that I still can't shake to this day. I feel like I have gained a bit of control over it but not as much as I would like to.
I am a cry-er. It used to be pretty extreme, like if someone made just the wrong comment while I was in a "mood". It didn't matter the situation. Whether I was being yelled at or I was at a friendly gathering: if it was a bad day for me, then I was going to cry.
I can't stand it. I just turned 29 and I STILL can't control my crying completely. I am married to an oppositely insensitive person (don't ask me how that happened) and in many ways I think that's helped me develop a thicker skin....but it's still not enough.
I'm almost 30 years old!! I have three children!! I am an adult for goodness sake!! When will it stop??
Thanks for "listening". Rant over.

Crying can sometimes be a good thing but it doesn't make you weak it just means you are a sensitive and caring person.
I would like to send you some hugs as a friendly gesture as I know all to well how difficult childhoods can cause chaos in adulthood.
I ofcourse am living the peter pan effect-I refuse to grow up :)
I overreact to many things. Things, people, imagined things.
Discovered a book a couple years ago by Elaine Aron, "The Highly Sensitive Person." 20% of the population she said is this. ...Sensory overload. . / I wondered at times if I were an evasive personality, but no I could be described as outgoing. But on the other hand I often think, within me, that there is a lot I'm trying to evade.
HSPs spend a lot of their energy managing their frequent sensory overloads. . / I recommend the Wikipedia article on highly-sensitive-person. It is actually better than Aron's book. Tho I recommend that, too.

Is it possible that addressing criticism or standing up for yourself might help? In some cases, you might just consider that the person is being a jerk and their behavior/comment isn't worth your tears.
For pre-schoolers and younger children, they should screen teachers and use the sensitive ones. The best nurses are sensitive
and have higher than average empathy for others.

Anyway I was tearing up over this, and thought of your thread! lol
I'd say yes, I can be a bit emotional, and have told many times I am over sensitive. But I think those people are under sensitive. unless of course you criticize THEM, then watch them react in a rage. but God forbid if you get teared up over something.
I used to feel EVERYTHING deeply and painfully, in my late teens. Then I realized that is silly, it simply doesn't work, is a route to insanity. It's not healthy to heap the entire world's sorrows on your shoulders. You have to accept that some things are out of your control, so you have to be selective about what you care about, discriminate.
I know what you mean by the crying at the drop of a hat, but sometimes you know you just go with it. It's o.k.,
If I were you instead of feeling like your cursed or something like that embrace that part of you. Be glad you have it and channel it into helping people that will benefit from your good nature, like visiting the elderly and talking with them when they have no one who cares at all.
Just a thought.
