Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I can largely relate to you! It sounds like you are doing very well overall! You really have it right in
trying to be on your own and not get involved with anyone because you're lonely. I was doing that and nothing ever came of it. Just got hurt whenever I was hoping to get to know someone (even as friends).
Yes! Focus on yourself! AND! I would highly advise you to GET A DOG! :-) They will never leave you and are ALWAYS glad to see you! And they love you no matter what! I suggest a female Black Labrador Retriever! There are thousands of them out there who need loving homes.
Anyway, I am here to listen if I can be of help to you.
I struggle with wanting to make friends and maybe more, but not feeling like I really connect with others, plus having a small child at home which makes it hard to just go wherever whenever. I like my alone time but often want more. What I wish for doesn't seem to line up with reality at times, lol. Anyway, welcome and hi!
paiste7 - Glad we can relate! I forgot to mention that I have two kids (I have half custody) and a beagle, so I am kept company, and am pretty busy in life (my job takes up a lot of head space!). I guess it's just how much time I spend by myself that weirds me out sometimes - I think I've took for granted, for so long, always having some level of company. So now I'm forced to be more accountable to myself, to make sure I go out and don't stay home all weekend, force myself to do things I've wanted to do for a long time but never have, etc.
happymama2j - Same here! I also was super regular on this site (under a different username) when I went through my divorce, and talking to people about what I was going through was really helpful. So I figured I'd revisit the site. I can relate to how you feel - I also feel that what I want socially may not easily fit with my reality, having an inflexible schedule sometimes, not sure when/where to meet people, etc..
annettearizona - so that's the challenge, trying to think of something I haven't thought of yet! :)
It's nice to hear I'm not alone in trying to figure this out. Thanks for the welcome!
