Odyssey

In a rush, my thoughts overwhelm me, with the brilliance
of the sun's break on the horizon. As I walk, I wonder why
moment was created. Reflecting. Processing. Floating with the
magic of the memory of ages.

Powerful, protected, a shroud surrounds me only god can remove.
I wander along. I search for a place I can breathe.
It must exist. My journey takes me along paths filled with joy
and pain and promises that surely something marvelous will come, in time.

I feel as if I'm wandering forever. I have a flash of resolution,
and I know, wherever I go, I am meant to be.
My heart beats. My lungs fill with air again and again.
I exist. I know. I'm alive.

I sleep on cold city streets. Chilly air assaults me
with glancing blows. I brush them away. I move along.
I allow myself the luxury of taking risks with my heart.
I indulge in voices of others, also passing through time.

I gaze through doorways of souls along the way.
I come across many teachers. Messengers who enrich me with
fortunes that do not come in coin, or gem. Only what is given
of spirit and touches my heart considerably.

I lay in sand and run my fingers through it's grains.
I sail along rivers of life, and I fly with winds from near to far.
I wash my mind of memory, releasing myself from it's stifling hand.
I cleanse my soul with comfort and dance with spirits, laughing with joy.

I warm my face on mountains. I touch sun with tender fingers.
I place my hands on faces of love, and I draw them to me.
I breathe my warmth into their mouths, and I suffer not.
I experience pleasure as I have never known.

I have opened my eyes to look around me. I have witnessed
the wonders of this world, and I have touched the beauty
of the depths of despair. Yet, though I have traveled so very far,
my footsteps always lead me back to you.
