P00hbear: I am happy for you, and can only hope that is in my future as well, sometimes...I just get so tired of trying. And there are days I really feel like there is no one out there looking for me.
bndykstra: I like you already.
I never got noticed when I was in my 20s. I did not even like myself at all. I had so many negative influences in my life from my parents.
It sounds like you like yourself you just need to find others who share the same interests that you do.
That was a good idea that someone said to join clubs and this never worked for me either. What did work for me was joining into a church and for me this has led to me making a few friends.
I find that some church goers are way more accepting than other people out there.
I have to say that now in my 30s I like myself more and have learned to accept myself more for the way I am.
I also have to say that I have never been so fat and so white and so ugly as I am now but for some reason I accept myself more.
Its crazy but I think sometimes its more about whats in your head that has to change. When I was in my 20s I was thin and because people said I was too white I would lay out in the sun.
I was embarrassed back then to wear shorts or a swimsuit or sleeveless shirts but now its funny because at this size I wear all of those things and don't even think twice about it.
What gets me now is how was I so embarrassed back then when I looked so much better.
I think its so much of the way I grew up with what was in my own head just from parents and everyone telling me that I was not good enough.
I never had anyone show me how to dress or wear makeup.
I felt so self contious about everything from the way I walked and talked to the way I looked. I hear that from a lot of people that they were insecure with themselves when they were in their 20s and now they are doing good.
I think too that when you really accept yourself then others will notice this and they will start accepting you more too.
I am still working on this now. I have learned to accept that I am me and I am not going to be as good looking as others are but I am just trying to be the best me I can be. I wear some makeup now every day but never used to and for me it just makes me feel more put together.
I am sure you will have things fall into place one of these days with guys so don't be too worried.
I never had guys notice me and other girls I knew did.
I used to wish they would notice me but now that I think back to it I am actually glad that they did not notice me because those girls dated some really bad loser guys and me I had never dated anyone.
I think its better to date no one than someone bad.
