Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

Well basically, I am a 44 year old man. I suffer from depression, morbidly obese, social anxiety and lonely
I see that all my issues are intertwined. My weight made me a target for bullies from the age of 9, which caused my social inabilities (now anxieties) which caused me to eat more and gain weight which made me more depressed, and on and on. It is not a new story I know
I was on the wrong medication for 10 years which turned me into an emotionless zombie which led to the end of my marriage (23 years we had been together) in the worst possible way (I found out she was cheating on me) and that VERY nearly finished me off. I could see the appeal of ending it all and for the first time understood why people did it
I managed to claw my way back a little and start to loose weight (79.5 lb to date) and visit the gym (5-6 times a week). I live in a shared house, my own bed and shower room. A few boxes and a few clothes to show for my life
My depression is part medical and part emotional. I know the difference now between the two since I changed meds last year. But now I know what I feel is real, and it is eating me up
I always thought I was a loner in life, and was happy as such. But now I know I am not. I am alone. And I hate it. I can go days without talking to another human, even when I am in work. Yet I can not talk to people because of my anxiety. I don't have any friends (apart from one girl I talk to at work. Her husband suffers from depression so she understands me a little). But that is it. One or two other acquaintances but that is all. My life was my wife. My family lives 150 miles away and I see them and talk to them as often as I can, but day to day there is just a void of emptiness
I am slowly coming to terms in my logical mind, that this is basically it for me now. I am never going to have a family of my own, I will never have the love of a woman again. I know people say you never know what will happen tomorrow, but I do. Nothing
It has beaten me. The loneliness has won. So all I can do is learn to accept that I will be alone for the rest of my life, and live with it as best as I can. But how do you do it? How do you fight the void? It is so tiring and exhausting day after day after day. There is nothing I am passionate about to do as a hobby to fill my time. Everything I have tried I have failed at or lost interest in. Yet every day I have to wake up and go to work. Sit in silence all day then come home and sit in my room all night
How to people do this? That is my question to you all. How do you wake up and face a day you know will be another empty shell of time? Knowing that you or anything you do does not matter to anyone and never will? Please help me understand this

Congrats on going to gym and way to go in losing weight. I go to the gym as often as I can. Not only does it get me out of the house, but having a good workout does help ease my anxiety and help me to feel better and more confident about myself.
So how do I deal with my loneliness daily? Well, I try and focus on doing things that I enjoy...working out is one of them. I also get out of the house as much as I can. I go eat, watch a movie, go to church, go shopping, etc. all by myself. It would be great to have a friend to do these things with...but not having one, I still make it a point to get out there and do stuff...even alone.

I can relate. I am recently out of a 3 year relationship with an alcoholic ex-boyfriend who verbally abused me. I am now alone, I live alone have no kids or pets. I am very happy that he is gone / the abuse is gone. I am not ready to date again and have acquaintances but I havent had a real friend in years. Everyone in my life with the exception of family has seriously emotionally scarred me and I am the type of person that if you cross me once I sever all ties with you. Hence me having no friends now.
I like you wake up, go to work and come home knowing I am alone. I have gone days without speaking to another person. I used to be bubbly, full of life girl but now I totally feel like a social outcast. I know it is because of the bad guy I was with. His addiction was my whole life sad as that sounds but I was so wrapped up in hiding it, sweeping my sorrows under the rug that the old me was lost and still is.
I am trying to be social again but its hard. Hard to find the girl I used to be. I am also overweight, I could use to lose about 50 I would be happy with 50 lbs. I know I will I just need that jump start. I have battled my weight my whole life. I once lost 130 lbs. with no surgery, I worked out like a mad woman and ate like 500 calories a day. I cannot do that again as after I lost that weight I became really ill. I eventually gained some back and became healthy again.
I am new to this site. I just searched lonely people and here I am.
I am hoping I can get some support here as I really could use friends now.
Best to you
Also therapy is something to think about. Years ago, I was feeling like the world was on my shoulders, and therapy helped to find things that I liked to do. For example, I liked jet coasters. so my therapist insisted I go that day after the session and ride a jet coaster. I rode it 7 times. Never again.
Also find things that make you laugh. For example, watching Big Bang Theory. Laughter gives me hope. If I have a sense of humor, I know that I will be okay.
