Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. it gives me nightmares. I remember every horrible incident. I wish
I could forget.
My memory sucks, so I should start doing this.
I have a journal where I write down some daily things which I've used for the past couple years (a book, not digital). So that's cool to look back and see what I've done.
I have not thought about doing something for the previous years though. Interesting!
In the future you could make a scrapbook with some quotes from your files and pictures of the Packers and other mementos. You could just print out pictures from the internet to find some good ones.
You wrote, "I have a wonderful memory and wish I didn't. I remember it all and it gives me nightmares. I remember every horrible incident. I wish I could forget."
Thinking about the past does no good. Feeling bad about it changes nothing. It is what happened.
I have heard of some different therapies to help recover from stressful memories...
One method is meditation.
Just having a daily meditation practice for 20 minutes a day-- letting the thoughts come and go without trying to control them-- just letting the thoughts come and go like waves on the beach-- can retrain your mind to let go of these hurtful things.
Here is a website about zen buddhism-- they have a forum and online meditation sessions where people meditate together online. I do not think you have to be a buddhist to join in.

Also another method I have heard involves the illegal drug ecstasy. Supposedly some therapists use ecstasy illegally in their practice because it gets such good results healing PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder).
Ecstasy makes the patient feel very good-- and then when he or she talks about the traumatic past, they are able to relive the event without pain. This promotes healing.
I'm not saying go try some illegal drug-- but I'm just throwing it out there in a brainstorm type of way that there are treatments for traumatic memories.
Also I'm sure there are therapists who specialize in working with patients recovering from trauma.
Blessings.
I used to keep a memory box but it contained mainly things from a particularly troubled time in my life. I used to get upset looking through that so I threw it out.
Gave up on "lost" around season 2/3. Well done for sticking with it. A favourite of mine was "Six Feet Under"
