My mother swore my brother sent me a message, not received. Argued with me, still couldn't say Happy Birthday on the phone or a month later.
You are important, embrace the ones who care!
Hugs! Brooke
Well I made plans with someone else. If one person doesn’t seem interested just keep looking.
I've read your other recent post also about fear of being left behind,.
I think what you've described goes on in many families. There seems to be those members of the family that get more attention and thought. Other family members put in more effort. It's true in my family.
My brother would barely notice if I wished him happy birthday because he's very busy living a full life. I, the lonelier sibling, feel hurt and wounded that he barely gives me a thought! Is he selfish? I would say yes- he's left me to care for a sick mother while he drops in once a year and yet he gets treated like royalty when he visits. My Dad can't praise him enough! He has us all running around him. He has a high self worth and it shows and other people treat him thus.
Who are the ones hurting? You and I - not our siblings.
They SHOULD at least take time in the day to mark your birthday. Are they selfish or lazy! Especially as you are in another country from your parents.
I'm sorry if you feel less important. I would say make your own life. Try to rely on their input less. Shift your focus to your friends if they're more loyal.
I'm a fair bit older. My experience is that family dynamics rarely change. Sorry if this hurts. Keep in touch with your parents best you can. Their love should be unconditional.
Take care!
If I could give you a hug, I would!
