Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I am trying to accept that there is very little help for the mentally ill.
It is a reality where I live. My manager called the cops on me; and I spent my first time ever in the Psychiatric Ward. Caught on to the system there quickly; they throw pills at everything; including over-sedating patients so they do not have to deal with them. Understaffed; under-qualified; burnt out; or just incapable of compassion. Group therapy was held daily and consisted of what is your goal for today. It lasted 10-15 minutes. Each person stated their goal; and then we were done. Each day I stated and restated the very same goal: to have "resources" in place when I was released.
After 6 days; and three different psychiatrist I signed a form that I was released to family and friends. What family and friends? They called a taxi for me; added to my hospital bill (of course). At least the three psychiatrists I saw diagnosed my similarly. 1) PTSD 2) Major Depression. Next one: 1) Major Depression 2) PTSD Third one: 1) Complex PTSD 2) Major Depression 3) Panic Disorder. The third psychiatrist spent 45 minutes with me; while the other two talked to me about 5 minutes.
Penn: I feel empathy for you; and/but our society/government system is not set up to offer very much help (if any) to the mentally ill.
I could write a book about my 6 days in the mental ward; it was a nightmare and a dark comedy combined. They did not want to hear that I had attended college and take all the prerequisite classes to join the nursing program; ran out of tuition money; and became a Medication Aid. I told them this as they kept double dosing me; and mixing up my breathing medication. Good Grief.
It's hard finding a decent therapist as well. I feel like they're pretty cold-hearted right out of the gate. Have to find one that actually cares about helping you, not just diagnosing you, but also doesn't get too personal or attached.
Since it's been a while since your last therapist, you can probably find another one. Even if it's only for a year, so much can happen in that time. You might find some actual help sorting things out.
I'm sorry to hear about your mental "help" situation. the scumbag mental health group in my hometown has been steadily going downhill since 1980s....in 1990s a really nice therapist told me everybody was gonna get fired----so that new people could be hired for cheaper.
thanks for saying my lousy caseworker was cold and callous----he's probably that and too stupid to know better. ANYBODY CAN BECOME A CASEWORKER----a couple years before I was watching tv ads looking for...practically anybody...to live and work in a group home; I was thinking of trying that, but I had 3 cats.
your psychiatrists, even if they stood and talked to you for five minutes while you and others were making something in art class probably got billed 50 dollars----which is the sort of itemized bill I got from 2003 mental ward.

my caseworker's job was mostly to help me figure out bills, and drive me to stores....he worked in a eyeglass shop, prior, as far as I know.
my allegedly scumbag caseworker kept on going on and on how I should return to my local drop-in, despite that place having real lowlifes who like to yell at people; my caseworker didn't want to hear that----but me saying my cat was sick and MAYBE dying went into one of this stupid ears and right out the other stupid ear.
the therapist I had for a year, was a college kid, not yet out of college....my local mental health group is pretty much a baby sitter unit for all the drug dealers and thieves who get sent there after they do their couple months in jail.
the drug dispensing psychiatrist was always somebody from a 3rd world country who would spend their required? 6 months stuck in my hillbilly town, and then find greener pastures.
$500 dollar an hour park avenue psychiatrists----that's what everybody could use.
