I've heard that it's hard to make friends later in life, but I see others do it and wonder why I can't. For a long time I was self-conscious about my weight, but I see other people who are overweight associating with each other. I feel awkward talking to pretty much anybody except my husband and two children. Thank God for them. But family is not enough. I often wonder what would happen to me if my husband died. I would have siblings who would call me or come to the funeral, but after that, I would be totally alone. I want someone I can share things with. I often have conversations with imaginary friends (in my head) and I'm in my 40's. I just seem to lack the social skills to relate to anyone. I reach out, but if I'm courageous enough to ask if the other mother would like to create a playdate with my son, or if I try to get a conversation going with someone, I can tell they are just trying to get away. I receive polite "no's" for the playdates, and I admit I'm too shy to ask for one for myself. I'm hoping I can find just 1 friend on this website that I can start emailing. I'm a decent person, I just lost my pizazz somewhere. Please add me as a friend or post something. Thanks.
