Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I have no kids, but I have a girlfriend, and she is one of only two friends I have these days. Unfortunately we don't get along very well a lot of the time, so it is a hurtful relationship as much as it is helpful.
We all need someone to take care of us don't we? Is finding a significant other an option for you? I think that might help, but what if we lose them? That just makes for a devastating scenario.
I've had to stare the idea of complete loneliness right in the face, and it seems a very difficult prospect. I try to think of God at those times. I believe God is there for us, though I admit it isn't easy. With so much misery, deception, and despair going on seemingly unchecked around us. Like you said, the destruction of the family. I too believe it was planned.
I never knew my dad and my mom wasn't healthy enough to really take care of me, but your situation actually seems much worse than mine, and for that I am sorry, friend. Sounds like your parents had a lot of stock in their relationship, and when it went south, nothing mattered. Isn't that reflective of an all-or-nothing attitude? I hate that state of mind, and I am guilty of it myself. We shouldn't think that way. It's like deciding to throw away the whole Thanksgiving meal just because the stuffing didn't turn out. There's still lots of other stuff to enjoy.
I've read that we should't rely on our relationships for happiness and that we need to find happiness within ourselves. Then, it would seem, our relationships are only complimentary to our happiness. I don't have the answer to personal happiness. Maybe we need to find what it is that we really want to do in this life that we are given and try to carry it out. I wish you the best of luck in overcoming your problem.
You're right about the emotional mess that makes up a good percent of families in the U S. All the joking on Pinterest about all the wine drinking. A responsible twelve year old could take better care of a small child than someone drunk. They would probably all argue, but if they could see themselves on a video... "Drunk Mommy" is deluding herself. Pediatricians in the U S have started telling mothers of under 5 year olds, to make some eye-contact, to not be on their phones, constantly... common sense has vanished.
So sorry for all the abuse and the neglect that you endured. Christmas is two months away, and it's just one day, but the "season" which has been extended to include the day after Halloween thru Jan 1, is very difficult for so many people.
For me, I prefer physical distance between me and family that would rather talk about me than to me, or doesn't bother with me.
Makes things a little better.
When it's possible to do any kind of "Secret Santa," you are making some little person very happy, and that toy that they might not have gotten otherwise can mean so much to them.
We can't change your childhood but we can help you with life now!
Do you have any hobbies/crafts? Getting involved with those or doing volunteer work will not only keep you busy but help others too and you will meet others with the same interests!
