One of the main reasons i dont go out much and probally the main reason i have depression is cause of my dress sense. I have a great passion for fashion and only began wearing what i wanted a few years ago in like 2009. I design alot of my cloths too, my taste is very much like lady gaga, Alexander mcQueen and mugler. But whenever i wear it outside everyone just stares at me or laughs or frawns, i can tell by the looks exacly what thier thinking, and i've even been banned from shops like tesco cause of it. i dont care what they think, but when i get it day to night everyday it gets you down. And my parents hate what i wear too, its always a fight between me and my mum when i get ready to go out. she'll go "cant you just wear something abit normal today". And my dad even refuses to take me up to see my grandad cause he's emabaressed of what he thinks and he wont be seen dead with me outside the house. All i want to do is be myself and everyone seems to have a problem with it, can anyone relate to this?
Society places a lot of emphasis on looks. You say your style is unusual. Most people that don't fit neatly in the box society has made end up not fitting in. Unfortunately, you must be prepared for judgment and comments if you want to dress in your own unusual style. If you love it and feel it is right for you do it. Don't let others stop you.
Remember that there is a time and a place for everything though. Sometimes one must tone down their style for certain situations (like church, job interviews, visiting your grandfather, work). Is there a way you can mix your style with some more conventional pieces so you can feel true to your style, but not fight with your parents? The shop owners, etc who banned you have a right to do so because their shops are private property and many places have dress codes. Even if you are unhappy you have to respect their right to dislike your style.
Have you looked into fashion? Maybe designing or making clothes and trying to sell them online would help you find an outlet. Do you draw, that might help. You are very young and people may just assume that you are doing it for attention. Maybe people would take you more seriously if you were drawing or making and/or designing clothes. What do they consider strange about the way you dress? It seems anything goes these days so I'm surprised you would even get looks from people. Why would you be banned from shops? Life is about compromises, when you go on to school or get a job, they may have some kind of dress code too, have you thought about what you would do if that were the case?
