Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

In the past almost three years, I have been struggling with loneliness. Here lately it has been a lot better but of course the feeling never goes completely away. In addition, I also have noticed that a part of me during this time of suffering has become dead, cold and hard inside. I feel very much isolated and alone in my journey in this world. There are many cliques that exist that I do not belong to and their members make it clear that I dont belong. Therefore, I am always the outsider looking in.
I was told not too long ago that everyone is trying to find there people. The thing is I have been looking for my people since elementary school through different venues and avenues and I still havent found them. I come from a family and community of people where I did not fit. Once I realized that in the world, there is a herd mentality, I knew that I did not.want to jump through hoops to gain anyone's approval. And what I realize is that there is a possiblility that I will never find them because alone may be my lot in life. I try filling my free time with activities such as studying, running errands and reading but the loneliness still creeps in. And I try to find ways to get rid of it but it doesnt budge because it wants to be there to make me acknowledge its ecistence and deal with it. Some days are better than others.
I have been to therapy to deal with my stuff but it never could help me effectively deal with the hardship of loneliness because it is something that cannot be talked through. It is something that requires a lot of perseverence in dealing with its characteristics. It is apart of life and therefore will never completely go away. I am still dealing with accepting this reality.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I had at one time strong feelings of isolation -- I went to therapy for it even. Like you say Jay-L, talking to someone who is self-sufficient and not needing anything
is not a real answer. There have been two seasons I think when I had this really bad; the one where I went for therapy ended when I bought a fixer-up house and had to be busy lots.
My time was filled up -- more -- and the neighbors where I moved were ppl I had common cause with. Some of these neighbors I hit it off with, and there was a future in our relationship(s). Um, "mutual aid" is a term for that.
Co-op have that. A certain amount at least. Food co-ops e.g.
I don't have a family of my own and I do not really have a career. -- A calling yes, but no one /w this same calling in my own town. So, what is the basis of a friendship I might have?; well maybe whim. :( The ppl I knew through the neighborhood association (who owned, who shared a stake in keeping the whole area looking good and in keeping it safe (something of a poor neighborhood)
I was in the same boat with.
A few years passed, then in looking back I was surprised to realized my loneliness got much better after starting with that house.
Hoping this could give you an idea or two.
I'm reminded sometimes : ppl unhappy to be solitary eventually get to looking for others who are like that. :)
/ Although avoiding certain disreputable places where some tend to congregate. Thinking here some kinds of bars. Um, even churches can have a sunday school class for unmarried young-ish adults. I've seen one or two which were *dull.* The room just reeks of ppl looking for a date, or of ppl chronically lonely.
After a few years of it, it can show. I've sociology credentials; a given group of ppl can usually only handle a certain small percent.
You do not want, under most circumstances (except maybe the Peace Corps) to be in social group which is majority/self-aware lonely. But!, a few *should* be there; and y'all would network

Dunno if I'd say most; but a large! proportion. Oh vey . :(
'N some IMHO seem pretty straight with me, yet eventually I realize *crave* lotsa' friends which of course requires being phoney (JD Salinger's favorite word :) ever' day.
--- And it starts to be, for me, bye bye.
About three generations ago novelists talked a lot about herd mentality; everybody anxious to agree with everyone else. "Hive-think." Bitter writers, they. Feeling isolated, unable to find friends who'd level with them.

I think the issue is finding people who are willing to go deep, think and talk deeply in conversations. A lot of people like to clutter their minds with a lot of silly, superficial shit.
Try to focus on just being happy relaxing within yourself. When loneliness creeps in, embrace it, make friends with it, say "Hi loneliness. Nice to see you again." Then, properly and completely relaxed, someone just might come along, ask to join you and say something that strikes a pleasingly deep chord in your soul.
