The thing you said about people turning the conversation back on
them and their issues - when I do that here, I'm trying to relate
to the person, most of the time, Now, i'm curious if that's considered a bad thing by most people.
I'm older and have adjusted to being alone, for the most part, but it really bothers me that so many very young people don't have a close friend, or that they feel left out in their families or at school.
Anytime someone asks, ' is it about me?', I think about some of the truly abrasive people I've known, with terrible personalities, but were either managers or endeared to management, and how people were soooo sweet and friendly to them, always.
I have a relative that I loved dearly, and so many times she would
seem close to me, if there was something that she wanted, and
the closeness would evaporate as soon as she had gotten whatever she wanted. She does the same thing with her children, which is really pathetic.
People seem to be considerably nicer, one at a time.
Connection I have found is like players in a symphony...everyone IS playing their own instrumental piece- yes...they have to...everyone together is making a blending sound that is our togetherness...stop and pause and look around- everyone should be focused on their sheet music which inspires those looking around to look at their sheet music- focus on their instrument and P L A Y ...and hear the sounds of togetherness :)
I read you discussion and can truly relate to it. It's terrible to be in a relationship for many years and feel alone. After so many years it becomes a robotic function. I would sacrifice everything that I have to just be able to sit down and have an open, in depth, heart to heart conversation. I do not see it happening in the near future and i have tried to bring back what was once there.
Thank goodness for this site, I have met some wonderful people that allow me to upon my heart in text. This has helped tremendously because I don't have it bottled up. I have fath that one day I will have those heart to heart with my spouse but in the interim, my DS friends have bridged the gap.
