Good luck in your search
I will say that the one positive I've gotten from going through the apps is that I've become more confident in being myself and putting my 'real' self out there in terms of personality and things like that. Rather than some shiney dating app persona or something like that. For me, it helped relieve some anxiety knowing that anyone who responded positively was doing it because of who I really am. If that makes any sense. It made it easier to be open, honest, engaging, etc.
You know it's prob healthier finding a friendship that grows. My best friends are married and in the whole kid rearing stage of their lives. Don't have a lot of time for the widowed friend and his search for a gf, lol. I've been trying to expand my friends list, but man is it hard out there, especially this year.
I put up a singles ad for 24 hours I wanted to know how prevalent the scammers were and frankly how desperate I would be to fall for their cons. In that 24 hours. I had 2 women offer to move across the country to be with me. 3 in college that were about to start their finals and needed to buy their text books to study. 2 of them at least named colleges when I asked where they went to school. The 3rd named a private elementary school. Another just left her abusive husband and wanted to know if I could pay for her daughter's birthday so she wouldn't suffer. In all 8 women who all could have been models wanted nothing more than to be my significant other. I am a great guy but not that great.
How do you find chemistry through a text? How do I get lost in your eyes when you're no where to be seen? Am I just a dinosaur that doesn't know I am extinct?
I'm lucky/unlucky enough to be in a smallish city a so there are a decent number of people, but lots of weird overlaps. For example, my recent ex knew or was acquaintances with 3 different people I had been on dates with before her. And then to make things even weirder, we found out our most recent exes were dating, too. Which is really weird, but I guess also makes a little sense? Either way, I was really hopeful I wouldn't have to go through the apps again. Ah well.
