@looney, PTSD get treated ?
@Andrea, I've never really dealt with anything.. I usually just distract myself and eventually i'll forget about it.. but lately it seems like I've been remembering every little bad thing that has ever happened
@healingslowly, i've tried to talk to them about it.. but they've been foster parents before and I'm the youngest, so everything I say is usually just blown off.. I also dropped out to help raise my nephew, i dont go back to school till Jan. and I'll be homeschool so I can catch up faster... that's why I posted here, it seemed like there was no were else to turn
I'll explain what's happening with this: When you distract yourself from the bad, painful, stressful, etc things, instead of, "immediately" confronting it, dealing with it, working thru it, and finally letting go of it, what happens in the brain is this: (and all this happens very very very quickly): Example: Someone emotionally hurts u, next, the the "anger emotion" will surface (it's suppose to). You distracting yourself is u deciding that the pain, anger and the upset is to much to deal with. When u made your "firm decision" (by distracting yourself) that this is to much to deal with, here is what the brain immediately does: A certain area of the brain says, "Ok, pain and anger, upset, INTO the SUBCONSCIOUS you go". The brain also dumps the feelings of the event, the pain, the anger, etc. into the subconscious, the place where u can not get to it .Because the brain has dumped all this into the subconscious level, you in return "forget" about it as if it doesnt even bother u anymore or as though it never even happened. But what u don't know is, because all of that is dumped into the subconscious level where u can not get to it, it is actually bothering u even more now. So because u forgot about it, you go about your business of your life until the next distressful painful thing happens, and the whole process starts all over again. So what's happening to u is: The reason why you are beginning to remember every little thing that has ever happened to u is because, your subconscious "container" is filled to the max. It's trying to empty itself out. You let it empty out by u getting all that junk written down on paper so u can get distance from it in order to be capeable of letting it go. If u dont let the subconscious empty out, as it fills up more, that's when PTSD and nervous breakdown happen. So u dont want that to happen. That's why when bad things happen we are suppose to "immediately" deal with it, feel the pain from it and then let it go so nothing gets buried. When nothing gets buried in the subconscious you dont get PTSD, or addictions, or nervous breakdowns. That's how that works. Awww, everything will be alright.
So, let yourself remember it, write those things down word for word "as" u r remembering it, and you'll get your brain emptied out like it's trying to do. This is one of those things that you have to work "with" it and not work "against" it. A good thing to do is to keep a notebook next to your bed. As soon as a memory surfaces, write it all down, and then work thru it so u can let it go. If you have a dream, as soon as u wake up, write the dream down so u dont forget it. I "guarantee" the dreams will be connected to the painful things u r holding onto.
