Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I feel just just as lonely and abandoned.
Can't believe this is my life.
I"m going to the pharmacy now to pick up my increased-dosage anti-depressant. I hope it finally helps.
Have you tried any anti-depressants?
I try to keep busy with classes, joining groups, blah, blah, blah, but it gets tiresome.
Loneliness sucks!
I often wonder the same thing--would anyone miss me if I weren't here? But if I think seriously about it, I suppose my parents and my sisters would.
Do you see a therapist? It might be helpful.
My family all have thier lives, kids, work all that, And like redlead, i to try to fill my time with classes, but that is not always possible.
But when you are sitting alone sometimes that is the worst feeling, they say that their is some one for every one but i wonder. I hate being alone .
But I must say that I'd rather be alone, then be around people that are toxic to me. I'm open to new friendships but it gets harder when you get older and my trust threshold has gone way down. My last serious relationship was 10 years ago and it has left its scars. And for those who left abusive relationships despite feeling lonelier, good for you. It really is better to be alone than for someone to continue to bring you down.
As for wheresmyhair, I often say to myself, "I can't believe my life".
Time has gone by so fast and I can remember when my life was full with family, friends, someone that loved me & vice versa, my cats. And yet, even with all that, everyone feels lonely occasionally. I suppose it's human nature because basically we are all alone in this world despite our attachments to others during this life journey.
I can't believe me my life, because I can't believe how detached I've become from the rest of the world. I'm friendly to strangers and people seem drawn to me, but I don't let anyone get to know me too much. Too much pain goes along with being abandoned.
I am a good friend though, but I have to admit that I have that expectation that it will be returned.
I want to meet someone I feel totally comfortable with, that I can be myself with and them with me. I don't believe in looking, but I believe in being out there in the world, and sometimes I get so comfy at home, that I choose to stay alone - with my cats which means a lot.

It was easier to meet people and form relationships when I was drinking. I haven't had a relationship since ... that was six and a half years ago. I tried the single events at churches just to mingle with a lot of losers. My job is so stressful that it has paralyzed me.
Like you Trudilu, I feel detached from the world. I get along well with others and people seem to enjoy talking with me even if I'm standing in line at the store. I am kind to strangers and all those I meet. But I feel abandoned, forgotten about, and lonely.
So .... I sit at the computer all day ...
Since we're close in age, I think you'll agree that getting older doesn't make feelings of loneliness any easier. The dreams you once had may be out of reach and time is no longer on your side in many ways. As we age, we become more invisible and feel like we're dispensable. I don't think that it's like that in some cultures, but here youth is admired and people will do a lot to stay young. I don't miss working but I do miss the comraderie of having people to tell stories to and laugh, etc. Catsitting is nice, but unfortunately it's not enough.
I don't know whether to accept these feelings or to try and change things. I'm kind of tired at this point and have no desire to try on people for size, like dating. I hope for good things, but I can't go looking for them.
Thanks for writing,
T.
