Sometimes in group therapy someone shares their problem then everyone shares how their triggered so you all open up Pandora box. Um... Not sure what that's about I'm sure the therapist knows that its helpful
And lastly comparisons are a way of thinking that help people cope and feel better. So says dbt. I personally find it helps my acceptance loads to know when stuff goes wrong that's normal on planet earth so I don't need to wind myself up over terrible things. In earlier recovery though I really didn't see how "knowing I had it better" than others was helpful, infact it was another reason to feel worse.
If it's not being done in a helpful way and there's a competition to see whose sicker, or negativity or some other reason to stop you sharing your feelings and shame you, then good for you for being assertive
Can't help but feel friendships need to work both ways.
Therapists are banned from sharing how crap they feel and their problems and from seeking your help. Perhaps that's the role your after in your life
