Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. I am from a small town and I had to move to the city due to my work in 2005. I was a happy go lucky when I was in high school... always bubbly... but recently some of my old friends who met me mentioned that I have changed a lot .. that I have mellowed down a lot... not so bubbly as before.
A series of events that happened in my life since I moved to the city had turned me into a hermit... I learned to keep to myself thinking that life is less complicated this way. I was also very active in my small town church ... active in the cell group meetings, mission trips and the worship ministry. But since I came to the city, I still have not found a church where I can fit in. Eventually I stopped attending church one year back though I still visit my home church when I am back home to visit my parents.
The city had been a very lonely place for me. People were always in a hurry ... people were cold. The loneliness was compounded by the fact that I was staying by myself. It worsened when my sister moved away to another country due to a job promotion. Usually I am able to cope by keeping myself busy, playing my PC and PS3 games ... watching TV, walking the malls by myself.
Recently I was also struggling with my sexual preferences that I might more feelings for the same sex even though I had dated a couple of times with girls. So all these added up .... and the loneliness sometimes cripples me..
So how do you guys cope? I had been looking for a place of support for sometime ... and there is not many people here I can open up and who will not judge me. I hope that DailyStrength will truly be a source of strength for me to go on each day.

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...

I hope you find what you are looking for here.... be is support or information.
Being in your situation dealing with what you have mentioned can be so difficult. Sorry for that (hugs).
A lot of us are here to get help as well as try and help. I'm usually on in the evening and if you would like to message me I'd be happy to lend an ear... or two.
It just isn't simple to make friends especially if you have other personal things going on, like figuring out who you are.
Would moving back to your old town be an option? Just a thought as you seemed to be very happy there once. Perhaps you could visit there more often to feel a connection with old friends.
I write to old friends or visit my only friend every 4-6 weeks. In the weeks I'm alone I try and work on things for myself. I'm surprised how fast the weeks seem to fly by.
Daily Strength has been very helpful for me personally as there are many people here who are in similar situations and their advice has been invaluable. They have helped me get through some very hard times. Just knowing there are people out there I have never met who care enough to offer support is enough to keep me going on a bad day.
Wishing you all the best.
if there is anything you need here just ask someone will be here for ya...hugs bill
Nandou : Thanks for the suggestions .. I should try to go back more often to my home town and eventually get a job back home.
Bill: Thanks for the support .. yes it is difficult in my place to be open about who I am.... hence I just bottle it up inside.
