Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

I think--and I am definitely NOT a pro, so you don't have to take what I say into consideration--that your current situation has the characteristics to make people susceptible to loneliness. Here is why I think that: You take care of your sister who suffers from schizophrenia, which means that at times I would assume it is like two people on different planes of existence. Then there is an alcoholic husband (I am omitting the abusive part just for now and singling out the alcoholism issue on this point). With being drunk, it's like a different level of current emotions or whaver. For example, two people hanging out. One is drunk and happy. The other is sober and happy. Both are hanging out and doing activities together, but they are not connected entirely, because they are both in different states of mind. Now for the abusive part. It's negative, plain and simple. Now if you look at each thing objectively, each connection in a way is negative, because there isn't a level match up of the state of mind (sorry, that's the best way I can impromptu my thoughts lol). Also, disorders are seen as abnormal, and therefore negative. Sorry I don't want to offend, and I hope I'm not. I think loneliness can be caused by multiple factors, but in your situation, from no direction do you receive any positivity. Maybe because of that one thing lacking do you feel disconnected and thus lonely. I would think a very similar thing if I were in the same situation. Actually, I really don't have much positive human contact, so I guess I kind of assessed that about myself subconsciously....
I hope maybe that might make sense? Like I said, I am not a pro, and it is just an assessment.
I saw a "penpal" NG blow up; someplace during ten years it lost its original purpose. (And became not very pretty :( However I was corresponding recentlyl (on alt.support.loneliness NG) with a person I knew on the original "penpal" forum. This is after fifteen years.
One person can have a few friends, but not close ones at all.
Another person, Person B, can have similar acquaintanceships plus a live-in person who is draining.
/ First person will be happier.
Of the two persons U r involved with, Puglet, both are taking. And not giving much.
