Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. Welcome to the group.
I sought counseling and realized a lot of it is due to my self-esteem, being used in the past, anxiety and thoughts of people thinking negatively about me, and not being able to fit in the social norm.
The good news is you can now do away with the "Because I never do anything" since you have now asked for advice......your first step to making many new friendships. I know what it like to feel that a best friend, someone you are close to moving on.....I grew up with a best friend from Elementary up to Freshman year in high school.....then he and I started to drift in separate directions. We were like brothers......our bond was like the movie 'Stand By Me'. I've never had another friendship as close as that since.
You'll find friends, and someday you'll find that one very special friend you will click with......the one who is like no other friend.....the one who will complete all that you are seeking.....that friend that will understand you more than anyone else.....hugs to you xLacey.....your not alone.
you can be the best friend anyone could have, and if they decide to
pursue other interests, it may have nothing to do with you. Giving up a good friend just because she doesn't want to be away from her boyfriend, ever - could be about insecurity.
Have you considered finding your passion, and if it's something you can take lessons for - horseback riding, tennis - you would be learning something you enjoy, and not be on your own.
Hoping good things come your way soon.

"What's meant for you won't pass you by."
As, for overcoming anxiety, shyness or whatever keeps one from making friends:
For one thing having more then one friend does not put too much obligation on one person and you have a back up plan to go do something when other friends are busy.
Practice on DS to make friends. What do friends PM about? Look at different groups to find posts people engage in. There are member groups that are just for fun. It will give you a feel of what gains you new friends and what your strengths are to get new people to ask for your friendship.
Read a newspaper or watch the news because current events are good ways to start a conversation.
Hang out at places like the library, just to be around people. You are 22, go to the local college library to be around young people. Find a quiet spot and watch what others do. Move closer and closer to groups of people. Listen to what they talk about. Try to engage someone in conversation.
Observe what people your age wear. Maybe change something about yourself to blend in better. Don't do anything radical that you will regret like make your hair blue. Find things that make you feel confident.
Find a real life support group. It is a good way to make real friends because it is face to face. Volunteer at a hospital or church. You will meet genuinely nice people. You can practice your social skills with people of all ages.
Do things at your own pace. Even if you feel embarrassed or awkward, make yourself get out there. It is just a matter of conditioning yourself to overcome your fears and anxieties.
Replace negative self talk with positive affirmations.
You are young and many people, feel as you do. If you want something badly enough, you will pursue it. Good luck to you.
I'm sorry about your lifelong friend that has cut you off-her husband probably gave her an ultimatium and she had to choose him :(
No need to apologize for being negative or writing too long-you write what you feel and you will find a lot of support and advice here on this forum
And everyone is being clingy in this. Further, you may be the one to break the cycle. Those two won't be Bobsey-twins ecstatic forever.
/You'll want to be learning...how to allow an other breathing space.
