Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. I think that if it wasn't for the need to get to work each week to keep the money coming in and getting the bills paid I think that i would rarely make it out of my apartment. Each week it seems to get more difficult to leave my apartment on the weekends. It has gotten to the point that I really hate leaving. It hurts too much to be out and about with real people, living real lives, having friends, having worthwhile lives because I have none of those things. When I stay in the apartment I am alone, and lonely but it's not near as bad as when I go out. Seeing 'normal' people living 'normal' lives just reminds me how much of a total screwed up loser that I am. My kids live near by with their families but I rarely have any contact with them. Their mother and I separated four years ago and since then the kids are cordial to me but they don't really want/need me in there lives. Often times I think that if something were to happen to me it could be weeks, or months before they would realize that I am gone. Pretty screwed up life when the only ones that would notice if I were gone is the people that I work with.
I am in therapy, I am on medications but so often I have to ask myself, 'why bother'. I suffer terribly from social anxiety. I can't even get on the elevator in my apartment when there is another person getting on. I will hold back and wait until they go and then I will take the elevator after them because I am in such fear of being on the elevator with another person, that I might have to talk. I do OK and I get by at work but outside of work I am totally paralyzed.
I have tried to to to different 'meetups' through meetup.com but each time has been a total failure for me. I go to the events and I always have the feeling that I am completely invisible and that I am an outsider looking in to whatever is going on. I don't know what to say and am so torn up on the inside with anxiety that I feel like I am going to stop breathing. The few times that I have tried to talk with someone I end up stuttering and end up leaving due to embarrassment.
Don't know how much longer I can do this.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

in any family rift, especially divorce. The whole, "they're just busy"
isn't true. People make time for what/who is important.
Don't know how long you've been in therapy, but my opinion is that if something isn't working after several visits, try something else. They could definitely have group meetings for people with social anxiety. It always feels better when you are dealing with a problem that other people are dealing with.
That feeling of being on the outside looking in, usually comes from a parent or guardian who wanted to make you feel insecure and is very challenging to get over, but you can do it.
There are people right here who have been through every type of trauma, have anxiety -there's an anxiety board here, appears to be pretty active.
Try to stay in the moment. Each moment. Anxiety can't work that way. Most important, and this is something that helps more than anything - have hope. It changes everything :)
Below, a funny quote - not intended to make light of any problems. Just thought you might enjoy it.

"Anxiety girl - able to jump to the worst conclusion in a single bound!"
As for the quote......love it....and can so totally relate to it.
Getting involved witha hobby or craft will not only keep you busy-but build up self esteem and when you least expect it,you will meet others with the same interests.
What about some volunteer work?
