I haven't been in school in years, but I remember. I attended multiple colleges. The first college was 1,000 miles from home. I was part of a team and my social life was so good. Circumstances changed, I left and starting over not knowing anyone was so hard. I just wanted to say I get it. Shy or not shy, keep trying, cuz you never know. I would start by asking someone in class to study together. One person. It just may lead to more. Hugs.
Perhaps the anatomy class are just not very sociable people, but you could try asking one of them directly if they ever do anything as a group.
Hopefully you’ll feel more at home in a few weeks. If you’re still not having much of a connection, at least you have your studies and a job to keep you busy. Keeping busy is my way of combating those lonely feelings.
I had the most success meeting people at church. There was a student parish on campus that a lot of the students attended. Along with various bible study sessions throughout the week, there were also a lot of student lead activities like visiting migrant workers or children in hospitals. It was a great way to not only meet college students my age, but also to reach out and give something back to other people. So if you have access to a church on your campus, you might want to check it out and see what opportunities for doing things with other college students it may offer.
