What in your conversation with the substitute case manager was different from your conversations with your regular case manager? Something happened to trigger your attack. Can you localize it? Can you vocalize it?
Perhaps meeting with the same substitute case manager again and replaying the first meeting might trigger you again. Knowing your trigger(s), you begin to take back control.
In the meantime, is the food craving a symptom? The desire for a certain taste? Carrying chewing gum might be a good substitute for all the food.
It may be that your body is telling you that a neural network in your brain was activated and has dumped a bunch of chemicals into your blood - it sounds like adrenaline could be being produced. Excess adrenaline creates the 'fight or flight' reflex. Was your feeling of anxiety such a 'fight or flight' episode?
If you still have a specific intact neural network from your past, it can be triggered and you get the anxiety. If you can identify the trigger, you can associate a memory with it. By understanding the memory, you can begin to tear down that neural network.
