Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

Also, a lot of people love to brag about "what a great social circle they have". A lot of them are full of it. They might be lonelier than you feel. Have you tried making your acquaintances your friends?
I agree that if you feel good about being with you, others will want to be with you too. Others that will really matter that is. I have found that sometimes its easier to let yourself feel the emotion rather than try to block it. Trying not to feel takes a lot of energy. There is nothing wrong with quiet and shy!
For the most part I keep my head up and I'm pretty easy going with eye contact. At times I can be really shy, though. I tend not to talk much at all unless others talk to me first,
Also, I feel kinda weird going to places by myself, like movies or sporting events. I guess I feel that people might think I'm an outcast or something.
Have you noticed others who don't seem to have friends? They may be just as shy as you and would welcome the opportunity for a new friend. Perhaps just saying hello would boost both your spirits. You will be amazed at what's out there if you just extend yourself a bit further than you think you can. Most people would welcome some interest. Those who would not are not worth your time, anyway.
I pray you'll be able to reach out and that others will reach back.
Am glad you are here.
Huggss to you.
It was hard, but I forced myself to make opening comments to a few people in my office, the other quiet people that don't seem to be in the popular chatty class. It worked! There are now several people to whom I can talk with a fair amount of ease, and one whom I eat lunch with now and then.
Not exactly a wild social life, but so much better than where I was! And being as the change isn't radical, it's a change I can sustain!
Hang in there. You can do it.
Peace my friend ^_^
