I had to laugh at your comment about being a Democrat, I
don't think that is a reason why you don't have a girlfriend.
And yes, people suck sometimes, you just have to pick who
you want to hang out with, Choose wisely.
Try looking for the groups that get together for bicycling, hiking, or the morning walks in the malls, or we even have an art in the park. The idea is to get yourself out of your home, out into the world and start doing things that you can use as material to talk to other people.
You can't get your happiness from others or depend on them for your happiness--so it has to come from you.
Politics has nothing to do with it, unless you open your mouth to start debating people and get carried away with it--and that turns others off.

So I have learned to never feel less than them just because of their lame attempts at getting attention and recognition.
Not sure that your political affiliation has anything to do with having a girlfriend (unless you look for one at the GOP convention or something). Maybe you mean that your values and principles differ from those of your female friends? Maybe one of your friends can introduce you to a nice gal.
Pay no mind to people; it's waste of time. Behind those attitudes lie a lot of insecurities, probably worse than the ones we share here in this group.
