Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I started therapy not too long ago, and I'm seriously doubting if it's actually effective. I was so proud of myself that I decided to take this step and become a happier person, but so far therapy just seems dumb. I've talked to two therapists and they've both been very...blah. Like I've tried really hard to open up and be super honest with them, and I feel like I analyze myself better than they do. I try so hard to give them lots of material to work with, and they just give me short, generic responses. I'm not sure why you need a license to just regurgitate WebMD articles? Plus it just feels weird talking about myself so much. It's like I'm wallowing in my own negative feelings and they just act very robotic and don't seem to sympathise.
Whatever, just need to get this off my chest. But I'm curious to hear other people's stories/opinions about therapy?

Hope the dog days of summer aren't getting you down!

experienced therapist. I had several before I found the right one for me. And
it does take time. Nothing changes right away.
You could always find a open share group around you that help with just talking about your feelings. i go to a group called celebrate recovery and I have found it very helpful for almost two years now. I have seriously changed! it is all thanks to this program and being on DS! :) talking helps because your not alone!
But I was finally getting somewhere, and I think I know how to start getting somewhere again .
Therapy only 'works' if you commit to it, and give it everything you've got.
If you want to, but can't, medication may help you to reach this place.
It only 'works' if you have a therapist who you can learn to trust, and get along with, someone you can have a conversation with, and see as a falable person, not just a certificate and accreditation.
It only works if you want it to. And if you're willing to let it.
Change can be terrifying, even when it's necessary.....
It only 'works' if you do it for long enough.
It took 6 months of weekly meetings before my therapist felt that she understood why I was there!
My thoughts.... Some may not be relevant :)
