I do! And i have had the same thoughts you have now. Quite frankly, these issues are overwhelming. This country is headed into chaos. And capitalism is a system that thrives on winners and losers. As sad as this seems, for their to be winners, there has to be losers. Greed and not caring for the human condition are all par for the course in a system like ours. Not to pick on the USA though, this occurs in some other industrialized nations, but it seems to be way worse over here in the USA. The system here is uncaring, impersonal, unforgiving, and unfair. And getting worse.

Caring should cost no money. And feeling each others pain should make us all the more caring. But most people here are lost or stuck in some kind of mode where disregarding the simple needs of more and more people now are what is normal. This place could use more love and equality.

I, as a loner, just sit back and watch it all go to hell in a hand basket. For it is all to overwhelming for one person to do anything about this mess, let alone just help oneself out along the way. I often ponder what the future will be like in this country. But i think that maybe in 50 to 100 years this place will be social chaos and pandemonium. And i probably wont be around to say "I told you so" then. Quite frankly i do not think this country will be around in 100 years time.

As one person, there are some things to do if you still have strength. Read books like from Gandhi or other peace activists or humanitarians. Participate in feeding the homeless in soup kitchens. Or maybe volunteering is some organization depending on your talents. I am considering working for the Habitat for Humanity myself because my skills are in the trades.

The issues you bring up are serious and there is no real simple answer to it in this society. Because it is lost. I could probably go on and on writing about these issues.

But a simple answer would be love.

The clearest evidence of how bad things are in this country is reflected in the faces of children. They're exposed to way too much
at very young ages, and many of them don't receive any kindness.

It's so unfortunate that a lot of mothers don't use their on judgement about things, instead of going along with society, reality tv producers,
money being waived at them. When you make up or dress your child to look provocative, you've done something wrong, even if there's a room full of other women doing this, even if you rationalize that the money is for their college fund, whatever people tell themselves .

If I could change one thing, children would have better lives. They would be treated better, they would always have someone who cares,someone who listens, and helps them when they need help.

If we can some how isolate the cruel culture of America ; economic status, love of money, power by any means, lust for extreme profit and love of materialism - then maybe will can learn how to focus on the human element of people and people activity. In school, grades 1 through 12, children aren't taught how to respect their neighbor or have any understanding of humanity. Children are simply taught the basics of how to land a job. Early education should be plural and encompass all areas of human life to include love for your fellow man and women regardless of differences. Loneliness is a manifestation of this culture.

My triger alert: my drunken socialist dad would give a monthly donation to CARE---while not caring about me, or the dump we lived in. And he probably gave a lot of money to bums in the bars he was in.

i apologize for going psychotic. But, certain political phrases are as much trigger alerts to me as some pro-vatican phrases might be to some incest victim.

My anti-usa/anti-capitalism ideas in my youth were partly responsible for me being on welfare, being around petty criminals, using drugs, and spitting on the limosines at rockerfeller center (though that last thing doesnt bother me)

I had a kinda crack house behind me, and a flop house adjacent to me; the crack house burnt down, the flop house went broke and is still vacent---thankfully. White, redneck, crack house & flophouse.

As my profile notes: I dont have a car, tv, or cellphone. It's not the govt's fault---and I dont need that stuff anyhow. I need my elderly cat. I feel guilty about putting a prior cat to sleep, on March 8 2006, after the crackhouse fire January 2006.
