I know just what you mean. I'm single several years , and I only have my elderly Mom but all she does is watch tv marathons of NCIS,so I prefer to stay at my own place. Unfortunately thats it for me,most of my relatives live in New Orleans. I live in Washington State not the friendliest really. I have to tell you I feel you on the stories of where people are spending their holidays, it really gets on my nerves.
Its awfully tough too. I know that its tough to meet anyone friends, anyone because its real clicque-ish.
I lost my Father a few years ago too. I have siblings but all we all have different mothers and none of them bother to keep in touch due to their own dysfunction so I guess that could be considered a blessing in disguise? I don't know.
Keep your head up.
I might be available for an online chat over the holidays if I'm not spending the day in bed.
Keep the faith
Ok?
Last night I saw a friend at the gym. I realized that all the conversation and e mails revolve around her..and I have to hear every detail about her story. In an e mail she sent..she did the have a happy thanksgiving statement. So not going into too much details I told her I was depressed about being alone. Cheer up was her answer. Last night she asked again and I told her the same thing. I guess she couldn't think of anything to say so she walked away. Now I know I am very wrong for thinking this way...but I know she comes from a large family and her mom is cooking. Is it too much to say let me ask my mom if u can join us?
Hey a thought maybe help in a homeless shelter, help serve dinner to others that don't have a home or a way to cook...

I am thankful that I don't have to spend Thanksgiving on the street (have been homeless for 14 months), so I know that I have many, many things to be thankful for and could care less--okay, I care a little, lol--that I don't have family to spend the day with.
