So, the clinic you want to go to no longer takes medicaid or medicare? A lot of places don't anymore. Luckily, I end up living in big cities or close to them so I can hunt around for my options. But some of the best places only take good insurance.

Not sure how Obamacare plays into this. Are you signed up for it?

You're smart enough to know that being alone is not caused by obamacare or what is known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

I'm on SSDI and I don't have Medicaid, I have Medicare. When I went on SSDI, Medicare sent me a chart of all the plans available to me and I went through them to see what each had and how they compared to others and that's how I made my selection. I selected a Medicare Advantage HMO that has what I need and is the cheapest. It's close by and it mails (at no cost) my prescriptions to me (low cost prescriptions) and when my refills are out, they fax the doctor and get them refilled so I'm not going traveling to get my prescriptions. They have a list of therapists/psychiatrists, my general doctor's appointments are free, my x-rays, my mammograms, my dexa scan, colonoscopies, EKG, bloodwork are all free. They also do a full physical once a year that includes bloodwork, many tests, and it's all free.

That's why I'm saying, if you answer people, they might be able to help you. But if you missed the deadline to change your plan, I don't know if anyone has any ideas on that.

somewhere I got scared of losing my aarp cheap pill plan, and I called bluecross before the deadline anyhow, though only half heartedly, after getting the run around.

yes, i screwed up, and now i can go NUTS.

i'll just go the e.r. every time i feel lousy; my medicare does cover that.

at this point i have no shame of going to the er----cause i never heard of only buying a car once a year, home insurance once a year, cable tv once a year, auto insurance once a year...etc 100 other examples.

people should only be allowed to apply for welfare once a year?

Still not sure how Obamacare effects you. You have medicare? Did you have to change your insurance because of the ACA? Was it that your provider decided not to take your insurance anymore?

If you have medicare, the ACA does not effect it at all. You keep whatever you have.

I'm stuck with medicare akin to a wooden nickel---accpt for hospital I guess.

If you have a significant life change like losing a job for example you can still sign up on Healthcare.gov there are special circumstances that they will account for you should call them

right now I am on the health.com site, i'll try to make sense of it, and maybe trust my info into the site.

but right away, it says that if 'you" have medicare "you're" covered---and, again, I was told on the phone....50 miles from me for therapy.

not an argument, just typing while figuring out other site.

I'm back and forth to the health site, and already ready to give up, especially when it says about dental insurance...made an appointment for a one hundred dollar cleaning next month.

I'm on medicare. get my blood pressure pills from aarp, about 7 dollars a month, and 3 dollars for 90 pills at walmart----scared about losing that, which I was told of when I was around people at my hometown dropin ten years ago.

(1) If you have MEDICARE, then stay off www.health.com site. It is not the site you need.

(2) I don't know if this will help you, but at www.medicare.gov, there is a section on changing if you have an Medicare Advantage Plan (which I have). Check out that section (below) and see if it will let you change from Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan.
