Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

Its a very dark saying but it is the truth. I have seen it change people some for the better some not so much.
I am not looking forward to that transition myself.
My dad will be the first since his mind has left him and the dementia keeps getting worse.
Speeking of which i write these words and they are sending my dad to the ER....
My parents didn't divorce until the youngest in our family left home for college, Several years after I'd moved out. But sometimes I try to imagine what it would be like to have been placed in foster care. Probably extremely traumatic. As a young boy I was terrified of even small changes in my environment, and according to my mother, I seemed to have some kind of abandonment issue, or attachment disorder. Just the thought of not having a stable home and nuclear family is extremely unsettling.
As for what rianbooyer said; "children are not truly adults until after their parents die"... there may be truth to that. Both my parents are still alive, but in their 90s and live far away. Mother is in late stages of dementia. She's an invalid on her death bed. And father is dying from cancer. I don't know how I'll feel when they're gone. Sad I am sure. But I also wish for their suffering to end.
And I'm no stranger to death. Both my best friends have already passed away.
As well as several close family members. It's been heartbreaking really. I cling to my spiritual experiences for comfort and strength. It's all I've got. For most of my life I've coped with my grief and sorrow alone, and in silence.
Hopefully you'll meet/make good caring friends. Life is cold, lonely and cruel. At least for me. And I'm sure many others. It's not easy finding good friends. Many of my "friends" were pretty shallow, narcissistic and uncaring. Not the kind of people I could turn to for comfort or emotional support.
