I was diagnosed with high risk hpv and a mild to moderate dysplasia I-II. I am having a LEEP done in a week. My concern is that because of the type I have, is it possible to get oral hpv and it turning into cancer in my throat and "other" regions? From what I have read online, and there's a lot, it is extremely possible to get hpv in your mouth and or throat due to the infection. I am terrified that this is the end of my life, that I will succumb to cancer one way or another because of this horrible disease. Can anyone help with any suggestions or knowledge on this topic?? It would be greatly appreciated.

If it is any consulation. You can get HPV in your mouth but it is rare. My doctor instructed me that you can only transmit the virus if you have lesions/warts. I am new to this myself just found out yesterday. I do however work in a STD clinic. Never realized that I was not as knowledgeable on a subject until you actually experience it. I know this doesn't ease your mind but as long as we have hope there is light.

Hi, I’ve had a few different surgeries done and while the hpv is focusing on genital areas, chances are not great of getting it elsewhere. The bad cells especially love the warmth and moistness of a cervix as bad as that sounds. I’ve had 15 years experience and most people are able to fight it off.. good luck!
